Jordan-Elizabeth Long Jordan-Elizabeth Long was born in Blacksburg, Virginia, where she studied at the Southwest Virginia Ballet. In 2002, she was named an American Ballet Theatre National Training Scholar. She then studied at the North Carolina School of the Arts, during which time she danced with the Suzanne Farrell Ballet, including performing Balanchine’s Don Quixote at the 2006 Edinburgh International Festival in Scotland. In 2007, Jordan-Elizabeth first performed with the Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami in Giselle, as Myrtha. Since then, she has danced principal and soloist roles in Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Le Corsaire, La Bayadere Suite, Raymonda Divertissements, and The Dying Swan. She has performed in the International Ballet Festival of Miami for the past two years, dancing Paquita in 2007 and Diana and Acteon in 2008. In 2008, she also danced Satanella at the Gala de Estrellas de la Danza Mundial in the Dominican Republic. In August 2009, she will join Het Nationale Ballet in Amsterdam as coryphée. |
Samuel Chester Sam began to dance at thirteen with the School of Carolina Ballet Theatre. He is now starting his fifth season with the company as a principal dancer. He has an extensive repertoire with the company and has performed in a leading role or as a soloist in Cirque du Ballet, The Sleeping Beauty, La Bayadere, Petrushka, Don Quixote, Diana & Acteon, Le Corsaire, The Nutcracker, Paquita, Strings, Just About, C to C: Classical to Contemporary and It Takes TuTu Tango. During the summers of 2006 and 2007 Sam was invited by the United States Embassy in Uruguay to attend the 3rd and 4th Gala Internacional de Danza in Montevideo. Sam received high acclaim for the performances, including an invitation to return this year. He has also been invited to be a guest artist throughout the United States and abroad. He has performed with Springfield Ballet Company in their productions of The Nutcracker, Paquita, Romeo & Juliet, Le Corsaire and Le Sylphide. Sam has also performed as a guest artist for the last few years in Fuji City, Japan, in Peasant and The Sleeping Beauty. In addition to his role as a Principal Dancer, Sam is involved with the SmartARTS educational program established by the Metropolitan Arts Council, MAC, in Greenville, South Carolina. |
