CDC-NEWS-Nutcracker Audition

August 07, 2008 - Murrells Inlet, SC - Coastal Youth Ballet Theatre is hosting auditions on Saturday, August 16 for
dancers to perform in the popular holiday classic, The Nutcracker on December 7 and 8. Coastal Youth Ballet
Theatre ( in cooperation with its training school, Coastal Dance Centre) - has secured a partnership with The Palace
Theatre of Myrtle Beach, and a total of three holiday performances will be hosted in what is arguably the premier
entertainment venue in the Grand Strand.

"We are so excited about this development," said Liza Mata, Founder and Director of Coastal Youth Ballet Theatre.
"The artistic merits of our previous years' productions successfully passed The Palace's exacting standards. This
collaboration will take our Christmas production to a new level of excellence, and it is an exciting opportunity for
young dancers to hone their skills on a professional stage."

Audition times on August 16 are 1 to 3 PM for 8 to 11 year olds; 3 to 4 PM for 4 to 7 year olds; and 4 - 6 PM for
dancers 12 to 18 years old. Auditions are open to all dancers, male and female, who are currently enrolled at
Coastal Dance Centre or any dance school in the region. A $20 fee will be assessed for each auditioning dancer.
Girls should wear black or solid color leotards, pink tights and pink ballet slippers. Hair should be pulled back in a
neat classical bun. Boys should wear a white T-Shirt, black tights or shorts and white socks with black or white
ballet shoes. The audition is set up much like a regular ballet class where students will go through various ballet
exercises. In addition, there will be a choreography component in which the students will be taught a short piece
from The Nutcracker and then asked to perform. Students do not have to come prepared with any solo routine or
variation.
