Coastal Dance Centre | Ashley Brooke Jones - Second Place at Youth America Grand Prix

Coastal Dance Centre is proud to announce that CDC student, Ashley Brooke Jones, tied for the Silver medal in
the Pre- Competitive Division of the Youth America Grand Regional Competition, which took place at Converse
College, in Spartanburg, SC in January 2009.

About thirty Pre-Competitive age dancers from South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, and Florida
competed in this division. Eight year old Ashley was the youngest dancer to place in the top three winners which
also gave her the privilege to advance to the final round in the New York City Finals. Ashley will compete with
dancers from Brazil, Mexico, China, Japan, Korea, Australia, United Kingdom, Italy, Romania, Russia, and other
countries, as well as from cities throughout the United States.

Ashley is the eldest of three children of Jason and Kristi Jones. She is a third grader at Lakewood Elementary
School in Surfside and is in the academic school’s Gifted and Talented Program.

Ashley is a member of the Coastal Youth Ballet Theatre which is the performing company of Coastal Dance
Centre. She attends dance classes and repertoire rehearsals as well as individual coaching at an average of 14
hours a week.

For her dance competition entries, Ashley performed “Danse Classique,” a classical ballet piece choreographed
by her coach and CDC’s Artistic Director Liza Mata, and a solo variation from “La Fille Mal Gardee.”

The Coastal Dance Centre faculty & staff congratulate Ashley Brooke Jones on her wonderful achievement as well
as our other Coastal Dance Centre students who qualified for the YAGP finals!

Coastal Dance Centre would also like to thank our faculty members: Ms. Karen Mata and Ms. Trisha Kennedy who
helped Ashley and our other students prepare for this wonderful opportunity.
